"Garden Bird's Nest" !!

Yup, it is what it looks like - a plastic mother bird feeding its plastic baby birds in the nest. The little caption on the wood panel to the left reads: "Garden Bird Nest attaches easily to Trees, Sheds and Walls."

Just came across these images, which made me instantly happy. Apparently, National Geographic together with a team of engineers, scientists and balloon pilots successfully launched a 16 x 16 foot house with 300 balloons! This happened somewhere near LA, and set a new world record for the largest balloon cluster flight, reaching an altitude of 10,000 feet and staying in the air for about an hour. The whole project was inspired by the Pixar animated film "Up" (which I haven't seen) and filming of the event is going to be part of a National Geographic Channel series called "How Hard Can It Be", showing sometime this fall. I just love that people try to do these things, and that they're possible....

Hey hey the MLE,

First thing to share on my first day back after two weeks away in Indonesia: KOU BALI. You probably went there when you were in Ubud (and we probably have the same photographs as usual). It's one of my favorite modern Ubud shops, everything is considered. Minty green soap, lemon tea tree soap... Pineapple and Guava Jam... Grape and Buni jam... And also herb infused sea salt from the village of Kusamba...

Just don't try and bring the jams onto the plane as carry-on. They are 110ml instead of 100ml, and will get taken away from you at security so that the security people can eat it instead. Boooooo.
