Hey the MLE!
Happy Jubilee! Tried to go to a street party yesterday - rained out. Ah well, was still fun.
Wanted to introduce you to this woman: Catherine Burgess. She has been working as a sculptor in Edmonton, Canada for over 30 years and is a good friend of my aunt. My aunt sent me the link to her site, and I love her work. I tried to purchase a piece, but was short a few thousand dollars. It would look so great in my flat, what a shame!
In her own words: The Placemarker wall sculptures emphasize an awareness of time and space by enacting frozen moments. Their singular elements relate to one another without any visible means of support. They float on the wall or barely touch one another in fixed, but physically unsupported stances. They are motionless, yet our sensibilities tell us that their positioning cannot be maintained. Their balance and harmony is at odds with their precarious, house-of-cards-like placement in space.
