BLUE and GREY food
28 October 2012
Hi Suzan!
So while we're on the topic of food (then again, aren't we always?), I thought I'd answer your ice-cream-planet post with some recent findings on weirdly coloured food. Blue and grey... it's so rare to find edible things in these colours, it almost feels wrong. So first we have a blue ramen soup which is being served at a place in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. The soup contains Spirulina, a type of blue-green algae which contains something called phycocyanin, that provides the colour as well as anti-aging benefits in the way of antioxidants. It's served cold and is intended to look as well as taste cooling and refreshing in the summertime. Does it work, who knows? But hey, it's blue soup, I'd try it! Then I've found for you a cake in greyscale. As I know you're not a big colour person, I thought you'd appreciate this especially. Who says dessert has to be all bright and pink and fruity looking, when you can have all that sugary goodness in lovely muted tones of grey? Although what I want to know is, what flavour is grey?

23 October 2012
Hey hey the MLE,
Was reading this the other day and thought of you as I know how interested you are in fusions of your two favourite things: design + food. We need to design some food I reckon. Must. Design. Food.

random LOVELIES
18 October 2012
Happy Thursday Suzan! Since I feel like my mind has been all over the place lately, it seems appropriate that this week's post is also completely random. Random but pretty, no? All gathered from the "Loves" section on the AnOther Mag blog, which is sort of like crack for the inspiration-starved brain. It's where I go when I need a quick fix in the middle of doing something tedious at the office. From the top: kaleidescope glasses, flower ice cubes, some very bulbous Marqueyssac Gardens in Vézac, France, solar system lollipops, and also on the space-theme – sparkly galaxy nails. I reckon you could go get those done at your neighborhood Dalston nail salon as a weekend treat. Yeah! -

Hey hey the MLE!
The London office is well underway with a new collaborative project with the Montreal design studio Balistique! We are very excited about finally working together, as I used to work with one of the founders in Montreal years ago, Jean Francois Proulx, and he is amazing talented as well as a good friend.

EBAY rebrand
9 October 2012
Hey hey the MLE,
Was checking out the new eBay rebrand this morning... Was also planning on offering up my own humble opinion, as you know how annoying and outspoken I can be about these things. But then I found this site and its author, Armin, just did such an amazing job, I thought I'd be lazy and just send you over his masterpiece of a commentary:
www.underconsideration.com
I love how this guy writes. I have bookmarked his lovely site and will check out more later. Here is a highlight from his article: "Pointing out that the iPad and iPhone images higher up on the page are fake is like pointing out that Pamela Anderson’s breasts are too." Good use of a simile...
As an aside, if you look at the very top of his site, you can see you have a layout option: centered or flush left. Niice. That should keep all of the people happy all of the time right?
